I will admit, I’m not the most creative OT on the block. Thankfully it really doesn’t take much to engage a child’s desire to learn. Next time we do this activity, I’ll add some stickers to connect to add a bit more fun!
Tracing is a great way to prepare the eyes and hands for writing activities as it helps integrate the visual and motor skills.
Here’s what we’re working on:
Pre-Writing Tracing Patterns Activity:
🖍Left to right visual scanning + sequencing (important for reading & writing)
🖍Fluency and pencil control
🖍Facilitating a tripod grasp
🖍Hand eye coordination
🖍Midline crossing in both visual system and motor systems of UE
🖍Fine motor control at the wrist (vs a whole arm movement)
